Das Lehr- und Forschungsprogramm des Lehrstuhls für Soziologie und empirische Sozialforschung thematisiert den Schnittpunkt zwischen Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft. Ein besonderer Schwerpunkt liegt auf der Analyse des Arbeitsmarktes und seiner Bedeutung für Ungleichheit und wirtschaftliche Prozesse. Wir stützen uns dabei auf quantitative Analyse von Daten, die wir häufig auch selbst erheben.

Wir bieten Lehrveranstaltungen in Allgemeiner Soziologie und soziologischer Theorie, quantitativen empirischen Methoden sowie der Arbeitsmarkt-, Wirtschafts- und Organisationssoziologie sowohl auf Bachelor- als auch Masterniveau. Neben unseren zentralen Studienangeboten im BA und MA Sozialökonomik können unsere Veranstaltungen u.a. auch im BA Wirtschaftswissenschaften und den Masterprogrammen Arbeitsmarkt und Personal, Marketing, Wirtschaftspädagogik oder Volkswirtschaftslehre belegt werden.

Unsere Forschungsthemen sind vielfältig. Aktuelle Forschungsprojekte befassen sich u.a. mit der Rolle des Berufs für den Arbeitsmarkt, regionaler Mobilität von Arbeitnehmern, Fragen der Abstimmung zwischen Familie und Erwerbstätigkeit, Folgen der Digitalisierung auf dem Arbeitsmarkt, der Entstehung von Reputation oder Gerechtigkeitseinstellungen bezüglich regionaler Umverteilungen.

Our focus in both teaching and research is on the analysis of the interplay between society and economy. We pay special attention to the labor market, which plays a major role in the production of inequality and economic development. For our analyses, we use quantitative data, which we often collect in our own surveys.

 

We offer courses in sociological theory, quantitative research methods, and the sociology of labor markets, economy and organizations for both bachelor and master students. Our main programs of study are the BA and MA in Socioeconomics, but we are likewise involved in programs from several other disciplines, such as the BA Business Studies and the Master degree programs Labor Market and Human Resources, Marketing, Business Education, and Economics.

 

In research, we work on a variety of topics. Currently we are examining the role of occupations for the labor market, regional mobility of employees, the reconciliation of work and family life, consequences of digitalization for the labor market, the emergence of reputation or justice attitudes with respect to regional redistribution.
